About Damon Connolly

Damon Connolly specializes in complex commercial litigation emphasizing business, consumer, antitrust, insurance and employment law. With twenty years of legal experience gained in both the public and private sectors, his focus is on providing clients with exceptional results. Damon is able to combine the flexibility of having his own practice, with the resources to handle matters of any size due to his affiliation with the AV-rated law firm Keegin, Harrison, Schoppert, Smith and Karner, LLP, where he serves as "of counsel."

Mr. Connolly served as Supervising Deputy Attorney General for the State of California, overseeing the Energy Task Force and Employment, Regulation & Administration sections. Over his fourteen-year tenure with the Office of the Attorney General, he successfully handled a wide range of matters, from case initiation and management through trial and appeal. He was instrumental in leading the State's efforts to recover money and other relief from California's energy crisis of 2000-01, including heading an investigation into fraudulent practices in the natural gas industry that resulted in a $1.6 billion settlement, the largest of its kind in history. He was the recipient of the Attorney General's Team Award in 2003.

Before commencing his own practice in February 2008, Damon was a partner at Girard Gibbs, LLP in San Francisco, a nationally recognized firm focused on representing plaintiffs in consumer and antitrust class actions. He began his legal career as an associate with Thelen, Marrin, Johnson & Bridges (now Thelen, Reid Brown Raysman & Steiner, LLP), where he specialized in commercial litigation with an emphasis on antitrust and consumer law.

Mr. Connolly is a 1988 graduate of the University of California at Berkeley, Boalt Hall School of Law, where he was an Associate Editor of the Ecology Law Quarterly. He received his undergraduate degree in Economics, with distinction, from the University of California at Berkeley in 1985.

Mr. Connolly is a member of the State Bar of California Section on Antitrust and Unfair Competition, as well as the Bar Associations of San Francisco and Marin County. Mr. Connolly is admitted to the California Bar. He also is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and the United States District Courts for the Northern, Central, Southern, and Eastern Districts of California.

Mr. Connolly serves as an elected member of the San Rafael City Council, and also sits on the board of the California Alumni Association.
